In this episode of The Rut I sit down with LooseHeadz, the rugby charity raising awareness for mental health issues, and Scotland International John Hardie.
We discuss how LooseHeadz started: 3 blokes who noticed mental health issues were pretty common place but still very stigmatised. They've now managed to get some of rugby's biggest stars wearing their sportswear and become ambassadors of the charity.
John, who has 16 caps for Scotland and has played for Highlanders, Edinburgh, Clermont and Newcastle Falcons, talks very openly about the anxiety he has had throughout his career, how that has affected him but most importantly, how he has made huge strides in coping with the problems he's faced. We also talk about the immense positive change that has happened, in both professional and grassroots rugby, in highlighting mental health issues.
LooseHeadz is a wonderful charity and needs the rugby community's support. Please take a look at their social media!: @looseheadz
