In this episode of The Rut we sit down with Nick Frendo, Cyclist, Movember mental health ambassador and Founder of the AFGO Project. Nick tells us how he would put on a façade, all whilst ripping himself up inside. A self-professed man-child up until his 40s, Nick talks about how he grew up thinking he was just angry, how depression was not a word often used. He convinced himself that life was supposed to be hard and there was no such thing as being happy.
He had thought he had been doing everything right, but things deteriorated, he didn’t feel he had a purpose, driving him to attempt to take his own life twice.
Now a mental health ambassador, Nick promotes the impact of just talking, opening up about his past and what he has been through, sharing his experiences and what works for him.
