In this episode of The Rut, I sit down with former Sky presenter and Hockey player, Nick Rothwell, who talks to me about:
👉 What it was like battling drug and alcohol problems whilst being on TV
👉 How drugs and alcohol pushed all of his relationships away
👉 Being caught drink driving
👉 Depression, loneliness, imposter syndrome and more
👉 How he’s now used his life experience to give back to others with his fantastic startup, ReTribe
Alcohol and drugs became a crucial support, allowing him to hide his mounting issues. His relationships broke down, his work suffered and he was chronically unhappy with his life until he went to rehab and sorted himself out.
Nick has now been sober for some time and his thriving, setting up a mental health start-up Re-Tribe. Re-Tribe help people find their ‘Tribes’ or communities as Nick passionately believes that one of the greatest ways to solve mental health issues is to bring together people to form relationships and connections. I love his work and massively recommend people taking a look at Re-Tribe. Such a great idea.
Nick is very happy for anybody listening to this episode to contact him directly. His email is email@example.com.
